Sons of Union Veterans
of the Civil War

The Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War and their Allied Orders are the officially recognized successors  of the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.), a fraternal organization founded by Union veterans after the Civil War. Our mission today is commemorative, historical and ceremonial.

As a member of the Allied Orders, we assist the Sons of Union Veterans in keeping alive the memories of our ancestors and their sacrifices for the maintenance of the Union.

Chartered from the National Auxiliary to the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War which began in 1884, Rachel Cormany Auxiliary No. 2  was founded in  2005, and is the official Auxiliary to the Indian Nations Camp No. 3 Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) , located in Tulsa Oklahoma. Please contact the ASUVCW national organization  for further information if you live outside of northeastern Oklahoma.

This Auxiliary is named for Rachel Bowman, wife of Samuel Cormany of the 16th Volunteer Pennsylvania Cavalry. For more information on her remarkable life, please read the "Rachel Cormany namesake" page.

Preserving history and promoting ideals of patriotism is as relevant today as it was in the year 1884. Our growing membership consists of a wide range of backgrounds, professions and ages. Some members of  Rachel Cormany Auxiliary No. 2 are genealogists, others enjoy Civil War history, or collect Civil War memorabilia.

We all share a love for our ancestors and relatives who gave to their country, that we should continue to be "One Nation Under God". Visitors are warmly welcomed at our meetings.
